The floating princess in the Princely Collections

In her portrait of Karoline von Liechtenstein, Vigée-Lebrun conducted a radical experiment by depicting the Princess floating and barefoot. We share the story behind one of the infamous portraits by one of Queen Marie-Antoinette’s painters, held within the Princely Collections.
